Software Localization

If you are a freelance linguist with experience in software localization or linguistic QA testing, we want to hear from you! We are looking for a few good linguists who will be able to handle one or more tasks:

  • Translation of UI strings, documentation and help
  • Editing
  • Proofreading (annotating using Actobat)
  • DTP of localized documentation and collateral (mostly using FrameMaker and QuarkXpress)
  • Software QA testing
  • Taking screenshots
  • Aligning precious translation
  • Converting files to and from RTF

We are mostly interested in translators from English into European languages, mainly:

  • English into Dutch
  • English into French
  • English into German
  • English into Italian
  • English into Portuguese
  • English into Spanish
  • English into Swedish

For translation and editing, you will need to have a solid experience using Translation Memory tools. For linguistic testing and for taking screenshots, a localized operating system is required. Proven experience as a translator in this field and/or a solid background in IT are necessary.

Most of the linguists we work with have 5 or more years of experience, a translation

Having been freelance translators ourselves, we like to treat our freelance partners with the respect that good professionals deserve. We pay all translation and editing by the hour, including in cases where our lients pay us by the word. The reason for this is that we don't believe that translation is a commodity. We expect our partners to provide quality translation, including terminology research fefore translation and attentive quality control after. And we expect to pay for the time you spend doing that.

If you would like to be considered, please send a current resume to marcello@dtl.biz together with a copy of our Vendor Information Form (Excel file). Please change the name of the file to your first and last name (first last.xls)before sending it. If you want to know more about how to make your resume or web site stand out, check our tips.

Thanks!
